We have built on both sides of the levee, and we price every house for the ground it sits on.

Every home we build meets or exceeds the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code wind provisions: rated sheathing with the right nailing pattern, hurricane straps and continuous load path from the rafters to the foundation, impact-rated or shuttered openings where required, and a sealed roof deck. It costs a little more up front and it pays you back every year in insurance premiums and every storm season in peace of mind.

How much does it cost to build a house in Houma?
It depends on the size of the house, the foundation type (slab versus elevated timber pilings), and the level of finishes. Builder-grade on a slab is the most affordable; elevated and custom-finish homes cost more. We give every client a detailed line-item estimate before they commit, so the number is specific to your plans and your lot, not a rule of thumb.
Do you build on timber pilings?
Yes. We build elevated homes on timber pilings and concrete piers throughout Terrebonne and Lafourche Parish, including recent builds in Montegut and the Bayou Dularge area. Elevated construction is often required by the flood map and almost always lowers your flood insurance.
Can I use my own house plans?
Absolutely. Bring plans from any designer or architect and we will price them as drawn. If you do not have plans yet, we can recommend local designers and help you get a buildable set.
Do you build Restore Louisiana homes?
Yes. We have built homes funded through the Restore Louisiana program and are familiar with its scope, inspection, and payment process.
How long does it take to build a new home?
A typical single-family home takes six to nine months from permit to keys, depending on size, foundation type, weather, and material lead times. We set a schedule at contract and keep you updated at every draw.
Are you licensed to build homes in Louisiana?
Yes. Charles Grey Construction LLC holds Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors Residential Contractor License 890644 and Commercial/Building Construction License CL.75458, and carries $1M/$2M general liability and workers' compensation insurance.
