A general contractor who used to be the inspector
Oley Autin ran quality control and projects on plant and refinery jobs before he started building houses. That is why the paperwork is clean and the framing is straight.
The owner's story
Charles Grey Construction LLC was started in 2019 by Oley Autin in Gray, Louisiana, and now operates from 1340 West Tunnel Boulevard in Houma. Before building homes, Oley spent years in industrial construction, working as a quality control manager and project manager on plant and refinery projects where every weld gets inspected, every schedule gets tracked, and nobody gets paid until the paperwork matches the work.
He brought that discipline to residential and commercial building. Eight years later, Charles Grey Construction has built custom homes on timber pilings in Montegut and the Bayou Dularge area, renovated whole houses in Houma and Raceland, put on roofs across Terrebonne and Lafourche Parish, poured driveways from Thibodaux to Metairie, and built commercial buildings for small business owners in Houma.

How we work
Site visit and scope
We walk the job with you, measure, photograph, and ask the questions that change the price: foundation, flood zone, existing conditions, finishes.
Line-item estimate
You get an itemized estimate, not a lump sum. Materials, labor, and subcontractor pricing broken out so you can trade a tile choice for a better window and see what it does to the number.
Contract you choose
Fixed price for most new homes, roofs, and concrete. Cost-plus with a fixed contractor fee and an open book for older-home renovations where the walls hide surprises.
Draw schedule
Payments tied to milestones you can see: foundation, dry-in, rough-in, finishes. On a recent custom home that was nine draws. You never pay ahead of the work.
Vetted subcontractors
We run a lean company and subcontract the trades to crews we have used for years: framers, roofers, concrete finishers, plumbers, electricians, HVAC. We manage them; you deal with one contractor.
Inspections and close-out
Parish inspections scheduled and passed, punch list walked with you, final clean, and a warranty letter in your hand.
Talk to the owner, not a salesman
Call the office, or send a few details and we will call you back the same business day.
